For people who suffer from gastritis or from peptic ulcers, it is better to consume foods that are either neutral or alkaline. The acidity level is measured on a scale of 1 to 10.

The neutral level is 7. From 8 to 10, foods are considered to be alkaline and they are very good for people suffering from GERD, gastritis and peptic ulcers.

The reason for this is that these foods do not trigger the production of excessive amounts of stomach acids. They are, therefore, less likely to cause gastritis pain.

Meanwhile, anything that is below 7 is acidic. The most acidic foods, such as sodas and energy drinks, are at a level of 1 on the PH scale. You should stay away from them if you suffer from gastritis.

In fact, you should probably stay away from foods that are at a scale of 4.6 and below. These are considered to be highly acidic.
